Education

Expertise and Contributions

Kawa possess expertise in advanced cardiac procedures, in particular coronary intervention, advanced coronary imaging and minimally invasive (keyhole) heart valve procedures. He is one of the few trained valvular interventional cardiologists providing services directly to Melbourne’s Western suburbs and Ballarat.

Cardiology Training

Kawa completed his cardiology training at Western Health, Royal Melbourne Hospital and Ballarat. He did further sub-speciality training in coronary intervention at Western Health, one of the highest volume coronary intervention centers in Victoria and further structural training at the Victorian heart transplant center, Alfred Health.

Academic Achievements

Kawa completed his PhD thesis at the University of Melbourne and Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute. His research focused on novel cardiac imaging techniques. He has published his work in high-ranking international journals and has presented his work at both international and national conferences.
